A brazen weekend killing at a tourist-jammed Midtown subway station has helped nearly double the number of transit slayings in the Big Apple so far this year compared to the same period in 2025. Police said Saturday’s midday fatal shooting at the Seventh Avenue and 53rd Street station in Manhattan marked the seventh killing in the city’s subway and bus system since January — with the gunman, who is described as armed and dangerous, still on the loose. There were four transit killings in the same period last year.
