The San Diego Padres minor-league coach detained by ICE will remain in custody over allegations he “overstayed his welcome” in the United States by a staggering eight years. Venezuelan native Oswaldo Jose Pirela — the Padres’ minor-league catching coordinator — was granted permission by the Obama Administration to stay in American until February 10, 2018, but allegedly stayed on illegally until he was detained on the weekend, the Department of Homeland Security announced. Venezuelan native Oswaldo Jose Pirela was taken into custody over the weekend.
