It was 53 years in the making. A message in a bottle written by a 9-year-old girl in 1973 washed up on the Jersey Shore recently — while the man who discovered it found the late author’s sister just hours later and was shocked to learn that he and the girl share the same birthday. Laurie Blair Brown, who was on vacation with her family in Ocean City in August 1973, wrote a playful note, which read: “This bottle was adrift on August 20, 1973 on 2nd Street beach Ocean City as my captors were transporting me to an island off shore in the Atlantic.
