Donald Trump turned 80 on Sunday inside the most improbable birthday venue in presidential history: the South Lawn of his own White House, with professional mixed martial arts fighters bleeding inside an octagon cage 28 metres above the ground. The event, dubbed UFC Freedom 250, cost its organisers upwards of £44. 3m ($60m) to stage and drew a crowd of some 4,000 invited guests to the grounds of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, with a further 85,000 expected at the nearby Ellipse.
