That kind of attrition forces a difficult question: How are we still here when so many of the businesses we once depended on have disappeared? The answer has very little to do with luck and everything to do with a misconception that continues to hold leaders back, which is the belief that if they wait long enough, the future will become clear enough to act confidently. That expectation no longer matches reality.
