The women’s freeski halfpipe event came to a screeching halt on Thursday during a scary scene in which two-time Olympic medalist Cassie Sharpe had to be taken off on a stretcher. The Canadian took an ugly fall as she was going down the halfpipe, making it almost all the way down when she tumbled and slid to the center before lying motionless on the ground for a moment. According to the CBC, the crowd fell silent, and it took several minutes before medical personnel took her away on a stretcher.
