Taking advantage of a loophole to manipulate the cut from 91 to 53 players, the Giants cut Berrios with an understanding that he will be re-signed before Week 1, according to ESPN. Because vested veterans like Berrios do not have to pass through waivers, the Giants and the eighth-year receiver can reach a handshake agreement that he won’t sign elsewhere as they go through roster gymnastics to keep another player who might have missed the cut and been subject to waivers.
