Delta airplane struck by firework mortar while landing in Chicago on Fourth of July

A firework mortar hit a Delta Airlines plane as it came in for a landing on the South Side of Chicago on the Fourth of July. The flight was headed into Midway International Airport when a firework smacked into it, the airline told NBC 5 Chicago. “Tower, we just had a firework hit our plane, Delta 1076, we’re continuing,” cabin crew told Air Traffic Control, according to radio traffic.
