Gunfire erupts at border crossing as officers confront grand theft suspect fleeing to Mexico

Border Patrol officers at the San Ysidro crossing opened fire on a grand theft suspect appearing to make a run for Mexico. The officers shot at the suspect, who wanted for grand theft auto, after he took Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies on a long pursuit from Jurupa Valley to the Mexican border around 6:45 p. m.
