Major League Baseball did in fact look into the substance that many people seemed to notice on Sonny Gray’s neck during the Red Sox’s Game 2 wild-card series loss to the Yankees, sports talk host Craig Carton said on WFAN on Thursday. While the Yankees walloped the Red Sox to complete the sweep, plenty of baseball fans noticed what appeared to be a strange substance on Gray’s neck when he was on the mound, raising plenty of questions. Gray appeared to touch it at various times while on the mound, and baseball fans were quick to point out the discoloration on the right side of his neck.
