NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch’s commitment to cleaning up the Big Apple led to a significant spike in tickets for public drinking, urinating and other quality-of-life violations this year, according to new data. The NYPD issued 220,802 quality-of-life summonses in the fiscal year ending June 30 — up 13% from 196,102 the year before and more than triple the 67,408 tickets written in fiscal year 2022, according to the Mayor’s Management Report released Thursday. The figures show that New York’s Finest are putting more might behind the broken-windows-style policing that Tisch has made a core part of her public-safety message.
