Jalen Carter’s record NFL contract conveniently ignores troublesome and all-too-recent history

This week the Eagles made Jalen Carter the highest-paid defensive lineman in NFL history. His new deal, details not yet fully known, will be enormous, the latest insanity. But we do know that it includes a guaranteed $106 million, more money to play five months of football rather than, oh, funding treatment of victims and surviving families of reckless driving.
