President Trump’s return to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner next week after an April assassination attempt will come with a dramatically tightened security operation — including digital tickets, a smaller venue and fewer opportunities for uninvited guests to slip inside. The rescheduled July 24 event at the Waldorf Astoria will not only forgo traditional printed passes for digital ones, but the event will no longer feature the sprawling cocktail receptions where virtually anyone could blend into the crowd. The Waldorf ballroom holds roughly 1,000 guests — less than a quarter of the Washington Hilton’s capacity — making it easier for the Secret Service and other security to vet attendees.
