A military staffer was killed after being hit with an apparent gunshot wound after a car crash near an Air Force base in Riverside County Tuesday morning, authorities said — without providing any information about what happened, or who else was involved. The victim, a contractor with the American Forces Network, died after the crash near March Air Reserve Base about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. Deputies were initially dispatched to investigate a reported assault with a deadly weapon.
