Pete Alonso makes bizarre error for Orioles as double play attempt goes horribly wrong

Former Mets star Pete Alonso made a bizarre error Sunday as he tried to turn a double play for the Orioles. The slugger was playing first base for Baltimore in the fourth inning when the Tigers’ Dillon Dingler hit a soft pop up to Alonso with a man on first. Instead of simply making an easy catch, though, Alonso deliberately let the ball drop in an attempt to turn a 3-6-3 double play.
