Jason Varitek’s wife takes shot at Red Sox GM after franchise icon’s coaching ouster

Jason Varitek’s wife, Catherine, took a shot at her husband’s former team and the man who leads the baseball staff there.   Varitek, a Red Sox great, was part of Alex Cora’s coaching staff before the franchise purged Cora and several coaches after a 10-17 start this season.   The Red Sox said that Varitek — a franchise icon who helped the team break its 86-year World Series championship drought — would be “reassigned,” and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow recently told reporters that there was an “open invitation” for Varitek to remain with the organization.
