Los Angeles renters can now search a massive new online database exposing years of alleged housing violations tied to apartment buildings across the city — from illegal evictions to harassment complaints. The new “Top 100 Problem Rental Properties” dashboard launched by the office of LA City Controller Kenneth Mejia allows tenants to punch in virtually any residential address in LA and instantly see more than a decade’s worth of reported complaints and code violations, dating back to December 2013. The database, available through the LA Controller’s Problem Rental Properties dashboard, ranks the city’s worst-offending rental addresses and details the number and type of violations connected to each property.
