WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert spent most of Monday’s news conference ahead of the 2026 draft taking a victory lap, basking in the afterglow of the new collective bargaining agreement. She celebrated that historic and transformational deal and fondly reflected on the challenging process that produced it. She noted the wins that came with the deal, which she said delivered the single largest pay increase in the history of the sport and features the first comprehensive revenue-sharing model in women’s professional sports.
