A Florida father received a heart transplant after a staggering seven years — setting the local record for the longest wait. Chevon Byfield, a 39-year-old dad of two, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2016 and given just three months to live. In between bracing for the inevitable, he and his family sought a second opinion at the Memorial Regional Hospital in Miami, according to a news release from the medical center published this week.
