Second American fighter jet crashes in Persian Gulf area around same time F-15E shot down, pilot safely rescued

A second US fighter plane crashed in the Persian Gulf area Friday —  and the lone pilot was safely rescued, according to US officials. The A-10 Warthog attack plane fell to the ground near the Strait of Hormuz at roughly the same time an Air Force F-15E was shot down over Iran, two US officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told the New York Times.
