Joe Weirsky has succeeded Joe Kent as acting director of the National Counterterrorism Center following the latter's resignation over the US role in the conflict with Iran. The change in leadership at the key intelligence agency was confirmed on Wednesday, a day after Kent stepped down. Weirsky, previously the deputy director, assumes the role amid heightened tensions in the Middle East as American and Israeli forces continue operations against Iranian targets.
