Gotham FC to host game at Citi Field in historic women’s sports first

One of the NWSL’s best rivalries is taking over Citi Field for one night this summer. Gotham FC are hosting Trinity Rodman and the Washington Spirit on July 15 for “The Queens Classic” at Citi Field, the club announced Tuesday. It’s not a coincidence that the marquee match — featuring four World Cup winners and Olympic gold medalists — will be played in a stadium that holds nearly 42,000 fans just four days before the men’s FIFA World Cup takes over MetLife Stadium.
