A wealthy Los Angeles socialite who plowed her car into two young brothers on a crosswalk asked an appellate court on Tuesday to toss her double murder conviction thrown out. Mom-of-two Rebecca Grossman, 62, is now seeking a new trial — with her lawyer claiming the judge who oversaw her trial didn’t give a jury adequate instructions before they found her guilty of second-degree murder in the deaths of Jacob and Mark Iskander in Westlake Village, 35 miles west of Los Angeles. Attorney Lara Gressley told the three-member Second District court panel that prosecutors didn’t prove the socialite was aware her actions would cause a “high probability of death” when she plowed into the Iskanders with her Mercedes SUV at a high rate of speed after drinking.
