Major crimes in New York City dropped nearly across the board, with six of seven major felony categories seeing marked declines — and the city boasting eight consecutive months of overall crime reduction, according to the annual management report, released Wednesday by Mayor Eric Adams. The statistics paint a positive picture of Gotham crime trends thus far in 2025 — featuring a 6% drop in murders; 17% decrease in robberies; 9% drop in felonious assaults; and a 5% dip in burglaries, while grand larceny and grand larceny auto both fell 10%, according to the figures shared with The Post. The Big Apple also reported a 14% decrease in shooting incidents, from 932 to 804, compared to the same time frame last year — and saw the fewest August shootings in the COMPStat era that began in 1993, the data showed.
