The wealthy Los Angeles enclave where “American Idol” executive Robin Kaye and her husband were murdered in an apparent home-invasion was terrorized by a string of violent break-ins last summer. Encino — located northwest of downtown LA and home to celebrities like Nick Jonas and Dave Grohl — saw a 40% spike in home burglaries in late July and August last year during a stretch where at least eight break-ins were reported in a matter of weeks. In most of those burglaries, teams of masked thieves smashed open windows and glass doors and broke in — often while terrified families and kids were cowering inside, according to NBC 4 Los Angeles.
