Angelenos could soon be sipping drinks while strolling in one of the city’s most dangerous areas under a new proposal. The Los Angeles City Council voted 12-0 at its Wednesday meeting to direct city departments to study the feasibility of establishing designated “entertainment zones” in notoriously violence-prone Downtown LA where patrons could carry open containers of alcohol. City planners, local agencies, and state alcohol regulators now have 60 days to report on whether the plan is viable or not.
