NASHVILLE — Christa Pike was believed to be brain dead and doctors expected to take her off life support the night before she inexplicably woke up and started talking, her lawyer said. Pike, 50, was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after two bungled attempts to execute her at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville on Sept. 30.
