Data centers could reach around 3% of global electricity consumption by the end of the decade Unsplash Electricity demand from data centers jumped 17% in 2025, while electricity consumption grew even faster, surging 50%, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). The agency now expects global data-center electricity consumption to roughly double to approximately 950 TWh by 2030. That would put data centers at around 3% of global electricity consumption by the end of the decade.
