A rare and extremely powerful Super El Nino is brewing this season — and set to leave the Northeast warmer and with little snow in the fall and winter. The dangerous weather phenomenon is a heightened version of the more typical El Nino, which develops when warm air in the Pacific region turns hotter than normal, triggering various fallout. The current El Nino that is developing is expected to bring local temps above average for the coming seasons, while rainfall and other precipitation are forecast to run below average, at least at the start, according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Carl Erickson.
