Scott Olson/Getty Images Travelers waiting for a break on airfares received an unusually direct answer on July 10: Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian told CNBC's Squawk Box that the roughly 20% jump in domestic ticket prices is "sustainable," that higher fares reflect strong demand and a disciplined industry, and that there is no relief in sight even as jet fuel costs fall sharply from their war-driven peak.
