The Royal Belgian Football Association said in a statement that it’s “astonished” by the FIFA ruling Sunday that suspended the red-card suspension of Folarin Balogun, allowing the star USMNT striker to be available for the World Cup Round of 16 match Monday. “FIFA bases its decision on Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code,” the association said in its statement. “This provision states that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may decide to suspend the enforcement of a previously imposed disciplinary sanction.
