The legendary downtown dive 169 Bar says their landlord is trying to hijack its now-famous trademark and reopen a copycat bar in the exact same spot using the original owner’s hard-earned brand recognition, a bombshell lawsuit claims. The longtime family-controlled property owner Maria Kolon quietly went behind the bar owner’s back to register the 169 Bar name and its famous martini logo with the federal government, the suit claims, and is allegedly plotting to re-open a copycat bar in the same spot.
