When a team selects a player in the NFL draft and it turns out that player is a major disappointment, the team invariably gets roasted for making an ill-advised pick. What is often ignored or dismissed is this: The player did not pan out, but that does not always mean the team messed up. And sometimes, the team making the pick saved another team from taking the same player and likely experiencing the same unsatisfying results.
