Wildfire survivors have erupted in fury over plans to force through a dense housing project along their only escape route from any future infernos. More than 1,600 apartments are slated for construction along Kanan Road in Agoura Hills, a narrow canyon corridor at the edge of the Santa Monica Mountains. Thousands of homes were destroyed during the Woolsey Fire in 2018, when nearly 97,000 acres ripped across the region, killing three people.
