Mayor Zohran Mamdani has appointed Erin Dalton — a former Pennsylvania official who faced backlash after implementing an AI algorithm that disproportionately targeted black families — as his commissioner of social services. Dalton comes from the Pittsburgh area of the state, where she served as director of Allegheny County’s Department of Human Services. 3 Erin Dalton is Mamdani’s DSS commissioner.
