Paul Goldschmidt is an imperfect signing by the Yankees. When it becomes official, Goldschmidt (who turns 39 in September) will be the second-oldest position player currently on a 40-man roster behind Arizona’s Carlos Santana (40 in April). There were certainly signs of his body and production wearing down in the second half last year.
