Boomer Esiason caused a stir when he said Derek Jeter seemed “elitist” for skipping this year’s Yankees Old-Timers’ Day, and the WFAN host is doubling down. Jeter says he’s missing the event, a celebration of the Yankees’ 2000 World Series team, for his daughter’s birthday party, but Esiason isn’t convinced that’s the real reason. “I believe there’s an inaccurate part of this story out there,” the ex-Jets quarterback said on “Boomer and Gio” on Tuesday morning.
