As all sports-attached TV networks are conspicuously working off the same plan to remove the sport from our sports, we wonder: Who came up with the plan? Where was the research and surveys that told network execs that the sports-minded public prefers the worst images from games, the worst acts and actors in their sports, and the biggest jerks in the live audience to represent both the sports and what we most enjoy upon tuning in? Within hours of that Tyrese Haliburton ugly and premature reprisal of the ugly Reggie Miller choke scene, TNT had produced and aired a promo providing that image as to why we should watch the next Pacers-Knicks playoff game on TNT. Yeah, these guys act like uncivilized creeps! There is no better reason to watch their next matchup! And NBA basketball — already driven toward extinction by countless episodes of neglect, pandering and self-destruction by the foresightless operating from the inside — continues.
