Illegal crossings at the US-Mexico border remained near historic lows in April despite increasing slightly over previous months, according to preliminary data obtained by The Post. Federal agents encountered fewer than 10,000 migrants crossing the southern border illegally in April, marking a 93% decrease from the more than 128,000 people who streamed across last April, Border Patrol stats show. The figures suggest that President Trump’s crackdown on the border — a key campaign promise — has resulted in a massive drop-off in the number of migrants arriving in the US illegally.
