Lionel Messi is dealing with a low-grade injury in the adductor muscle, an MRI exam revealed on Monday, after it was announced that the global soccer icon would not play for Argentina in its World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Uruguay later this month. Inter Miami officially announced Messi’s injury Monday evening, confirming that he had an MRI earlier in the day to “assess the extent of the discomfort in his adductor region, which he experienced during last night’s match against Atlanta United. ” The exam found the injury and the team said in the statement that Messi’s “clinical progress and response to treatment will determine his availability for competition.
