Murders and shootings in the Big Apple have continued to hit historic lows so far this year, but hate crimes including antisemitic incidents are only soaring in the five boroughs, new NYPD crime stats reveal. Police said hate crimes jumped by nearly 13% over the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in past years, with anti-Jewish incidents accounting for more than half of them — marring otherwise stellar city crime stats that show major crimes continuing to dip in recent years. The dismal news came as a new poll surfaced showing more than half of Jewish voters in the city fear for their safety, with a troubling 42% saying they’ve been verbally harassed.
