Cornell University on Monday blasted the alleged victim of a fraternity gang rape as “irresponsible’’ for suggesting it let the accused off by just having them write a punishment essay. The beleaguered Ivy League institution did not deny it ordered the seven accused young men to pen essays after the alleged horrific incident — but claimed there were other consequences, too. “None of the individuals charged were offered the opportunity to write essays as a sole consequence of their involvement,” the prestigious school wrote in a statement just hours after the local district attorney announced he was launching a new criminal investigation into the alleged ketamine-fueled gang rape.
