A police K-9 was shot and killed on Thursday during his last shift before retirement while trying to arrest a murder suspect, according to authorities and reports. Kylo, a police dog for the Portland Police Bureau, was killed on Thursday when gunfire broke out as cops and the US Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force tried to cuff a suspect near the Chestnut Tree Inn in Portland. A manhunt was launched for the alleged killer after cops stumbled upon a dead body in a home earlier in the day, according to the Gresham Police Department.
