Michael Penix Jr. returning from ACL tear in Week 3 after Falcons’ embarrassment vs. Panthers

The Falcons have named Michael Penix Jr. their starting quarterback for Thursday’s game against the Packers, the team announced on Monday.   It comes after Atlanta started the season 0-2, including a season-opening loss to the Steelers and an embarrassing 34-3 blowout defeat to the Panthers in its home opener, and the offense has struggled massively through the first two games — they failed to run a play in the red zone in either of those matchups.
