Geno Smith leads Jets captaincy picks that come with surprising omissions

The Jets announced their six captains for the 2026 season, as selected by their teammates.   Quarterback Geno Smith, guard Joe Tippmann, linebacker Demario Davis, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, defensive tackle Harrison Phillips and wide receiver/punt returner Isaiah Williams all were picked.   Davis, Smith and Fitzpatrick are all new to the Jets this season, but all were acquired in part because they are veterans who can provide leadership for the team.
