Yankees making drastic Anthony Volpe change after demotion for George Lombard Jr.

Anthony Volpe will see time at second base and shortstop in the minor leagues, Aaron Boone told Jomboy Media on Tuesday. It’s a notable shift since Volpe has not played second base in the majors and the organization did not have him take reps at the position earlier this year when he was in the minors. Volpe was demoted to Triple-A alongside pitcher Angel Chivilli and outfielder Jasson Dominguez following Monday night’s 13-7 loss to the Cardinals.
