The San Francisco Giants have been busy selling players before this year’s trade deadline, and appear close to acquiring an intriguing young infielder as part of another potential deal. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported that the Giants are “close to acquiring” Boston Red Sox infielder Marcelo Mayer in a trade for reliever Erik Miller. Not long afterward, the deal was made official.
