Putrid odor leads cops to ‘highly decomposed’ corpses in NYC building, one body under couch

A putrid odor wafting from a Bronx apartment led authorities to two decomposing corpses so rotten that police couldn’t immediately identify their sexes, cops and sources said.   The “highly decomposed” bodies were found inside a five-story building in Carpenter Avenue near 228th Street in Wakefield after a 911 caller reported a stomach-turning smell oozing in the hallways around 8:30 p. m.
