ANKARA, Turkey — President Trump said Tuesday he is lifting sanctions that bar the sale of certain military equipment to Turkey — potentially paving the way for the provision of advanced F-35 stealth fighter jets over the opposition of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and some Republicans in Congress. “We’re going to be taking the sanctions off. It’s time to do that, OK? We don’t want to sanction friends,” Trump said during a joint press availability with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
