Dylan Garand’s new Rangers contract comes with no guarantees on role

Dylan Garand is currently first in line to succeed Jonathan Quick as Rangers backup goalie next season after signing a two-year contract extension Sunday.   Breaking through to the NHL level for the first time this past season, Garand appeared in three games for the Blueshirts and played well enough to position himself behind No. 1 goalie Igor Shesterkin on the organizational depth chart.
